Papanasanathar Temple is located at a distance of about 60 km from Tirunelveli in the state of Tamil Nadu. The temple is built in the Dravidian style of architecture. In the temple, Lord Shiva is worshiped as Papanasathar and his wife Parvati as Ulagamma. It was built by Vijayanagar and Nayak kings in the 16th century. On the walls of the temple are carved Vinayakan, Subramanian, Dakshinamoorthy, Durga and Navagraha. The temple is open from 5.30 am to 12 pm and 4.30 pm to 7:30 pm except on festival days.
