Birla Mandir in Kolkata is an architecture made on white marbles. It is constructed by Birla Foundation which has also constructed various temples across India. It is mainly dedicated to Radha-Krishna. Birla Mandir is situated in Asutosh Chowdary Avenue in Ballygunge, Kolkata. The Rajasthani temple architecture and the architecture of Bhagavad Gita makes Birla Mandir beautiful. In addition to the main idol Radha-Krishna there are idols of Shiva and Durga too. The evening Aarti is very attractive, so it’s better to visit this temple in the evening. On the occasion of Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, devotees come from long distances for worship and darshan. Cameras and mobile phones are strictly prohibited. Birla Mandir is open from 5.30 am to 11 am and from 4.30 pm to 9 pm. This is the most visited tourist destination in Kolkata.
