Chennakesava Temple is located in the Somanathapura village, about 35 km from the city of Mysore. The Chennakesava Temple was built in the year 1268 by King Narasimha Somnathan during the Hoysala reign. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. On the entrance of the temple is a large stone with some inscriptions on the old Kannada inscription. Chennakesava Temple has three Shiva temples. The beauty of the Hoysala architecture and its grandeur and intricate craftsmanship have never been more beautiful. The temple is now under the Archaeological Survey of India.
