St. David’s Fort is a place of historical and architectural fame. Fort St. David was formerly a British fort on the Coromandel coast of India, 100 miles south of Cuddalore. The fort is a historical monument dating back to 1660-70. That is what is ruined. The fort was in the possession of many rulers who fought and won many battles. The fort fell to the Maratha ruler Shivaji Jingi in 1677 after his capture. It was later annexed by the British in 1690, by the French in 1758, and again in 1785 by the British, who later abandoned it.
