Adiyogi Shiva Statue
The largest statue of the world, the Adiyogi Shiva Statue, situates in the Isha Yoga Complex in Coimbatore in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. It has been recognized by the Guinness Record as the world’s largest bust sculpture. The figure is 112 feet tall and weighs 500 tons. It stands in the middle of an extensive green farmland at the foothills of Velliangiri Mountain Ranges in the Western Ghats and was designed by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the founder of Isha Foundation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the statue on 24th February 2017. The Adiyogi Shiva Statue with the largest carvings in the world leaves us enthralled. The meaning of the term Adiyogi is “the first yogi (yogi is a person who is proficient in yoga).” From the name itself, it is clear that the creation of this sculpture is intended to encourage yoga. The Isha Foundation regularly conducts discussions, cultural programs, speeches, and games. The space at the base of the statue offers space for meditation. Unlike other places, there are no restrictions on taking videos or photos here. All are welcome here irrespective of their religion. It is 30 km from Coimbatore to the place where Adiyogi Shiva Statue is. Buses are available from the city.
