Kodaikanal is located in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu, between the Parapar and Gundar valleys. Kodaikanal is a tourist destination in Tamil Nadu, India that is blessed with lakes and mountains along with the bitter cold. The secret of the wild beauty of Kodaikanal is the snow capped mountains. Kodaikanal is surrounded by waterfalls and rock formations in the middle of a dense forest. Kodaikanal Lake is one of the important attractions of the place. In 1867, the then Collector of Madurai, Sir. Weir decided to settle in Kodaikanal. He was the one who made the lake in Kodaikanal what it is today. Before that it was just a swamp. He soon bought several boats and canoes and started a boat house. INR 20-40 for a two-seater pedal boat to INR 125 for a Kasmiri shikara for 30 minutes. There are luxury boats available too. Boat Pageant and Flower Shows are a regular and popular feature in the summer season.
