The Dutch soldiers and merchants are buried in the cemetery near the shores in Fort Kochi. This Dutch Cemetery is 292 years old. It is one of the oldest Dutch Cemetery in India. It is maintained by the St. Francis CSI Church in Fort Kochi. This cemetery which is built in the style of Dutch architecture has walls around it. The cemetery always seemed closed. You need to have permission from the church to visit the cemetery. It has the burials of the famous Europeans who have played a major role in changing the history of the world. Their names were engraved on their tombs. The tombs were made up of granite and red laterite. There are a total of 104 tombs, both large and small. The Dutch Cemetery exists there as a reminder of the Colonial period in the Fort Kochi shore.
