The Birla Foundation which has constructed several temples across India constructed a temple in Hyderabad which is known as Birla Mandir. It is situated in 13 acres of land on top of a 280ft tall hill. There are separate temples for Hindu gods and goddesses including Shiva, Ganesh, Shakthi, Saraswathi, Brahma, Lakshmi, Saibaba. All the sculptures here are beautifully made by carving on white marble stones. The construction of this temple is done with 2000 tonnes of pure white marble. It is a blend of Dravidian and Rajasthani architectural style. The idol of Sri Venkateswara inside the temple is of 11ft. It took 10 years to complete the construction of this temple. The view of the city from the temple is very attractive. Photography is strictly prohibited in the temple premises. The visiting time is from 6 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 9 pm. Various other tourist destinations are also nearby. The Birla Planetarium, the observatory, and the Birla Science Museum are all located nearby. Birla Mandir is at a distance of 1km from Hyderabad railway station, 6km from Hyderabad bus terminal, and 7km from Begumpet Airport Hyderabad.
