CSI Christ Church is the oldest Christian worship place in Munnar. It is made up of unfinished granites. Mrs. Eleanor Knight, wife of British General Manager M. Knight, was active in missionary works in 1894. When they died, they were buried on the hill here. Then it is converted to a special graveyard for the British gardeners. Later, CSI Christ Church was built in the memory of Eleanor by the British in 1910. In 1911 on Easter, the priest Rev. W.F. Hoystead inaugurated it. The unfinished granites, the saints of the British Colonial period inside the church, and glass windows illustrating Bible characters give an amazing beauty to this church. In 1981, when the British left the CSI North Kerala diocese, the church was handed over. The church is open from 9 am to 7 pm. CSI Christ Church stands on top of a small hill in Munnar, reminding about the British Colonial period.
