Ekambareswarar is an amazing temple with the largest Rajagopuram in India. It is spread over 14 acres of land. The temple with 11 floors and 55m height, has the tallest tower on the south side. You need to cross several doors to reach the sanctum. The temple corridor is rich with sculptures engraved pillars and 1008 Shiva lingams made up of Krishna stone on the sides. A mango tree which is believed to be 3500 years old is inside the temple. The sunlight falls on Shiva lingams in March and April every year. The Kamakshiyamman Kovil built by the Pallava kings in the 6th century is near this temple. It is dedicated to Kamakshi, an incarnation of Goddess Parvathi. The main attraction in this temple is the beautiful temple pond and the hallway with a thousand pillars.
