By Our Lady of Ransom Church is a famous 15th century church located in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. The beauty and tranquility of this church is what attracts people the most.The tomb stones unearthed at Kumari Muttom, near Kanniyakumari contain evidences to show that Catholics were living there for many centuries. A small thatched church was upgraded to a big church of Roman architecture was constructed in 1700 AD. The old church remains part of the new church.What enthrals people the most is the statue of Virgin Mary, clad in a sari, at the altar.
