Elaveezhapoonchira is the tourist destination situated in Melukavu village in Kottayam district in Kerala, India. It is an area covered with hills, rocky cliffs, patchy grass, and contours. There will always be heavy winds. It is one of the places where, you can see the sunrise and sunset in one place. The view of Malankkara Dam from Elaveezhapoonchira is beautiful. The beautiful distant view of the districts Ernakulam, Alapuzha, Pathanamthitta can also be seen. The small lake below called Poochira is perennial. It is so windy that the leaves will not fall on the river. The place is known as Elaveezhapoonchira because of the lake with no leaves. It is also the best trekking place. It is mentioned in the legends that Pandavas have lived here. There are caves, tribal areas, and ancient cemetery within walking distance. The main caves are Nilaavara cave and Pandava cave. There is a small tourist bungalow to stay on top of the hill. There is no electricity and a mobile network. It is 20km from Thodupuzha and 60km from Kottayam. Elaveezhapoonchira is a perfect place for a one day picnic.
