Malampuzha Dam is the largest reservoir for irrigation in South India. It was built in 1955. The dam was built as a multi-purpose project for irrigation, drinking water, industry, power generation, fisheries and water transport. The Malampuzha dam area includes the hydropower project and the irrigation project. Malampuzha is located at a distance of 10 km from Palakkad city. Malampuzha has the largest irrigation system in Kerala. The main attraction of the place is the dam and reservoir built across the Malampuzha river. The Malampuzha Dam, the surrounding gardens and the surrounding hills are famous for their natural beauty. Fantasy Park, the first water sports park in Kerala, is a major attraction near the Malampuzha Dam.
