Piravom is a municipality situated in Ernakulam district in Kerala state, south India. It is 31 km South East of Ernakulam city & 40 km north of Kottayam city. Piravom is famous for historic Hindu temples and Syrian Christian churches. Piravom is located at the boundary between two districts, Ernakulam and Kottayam. Piravom Valiya Pally which is one of the most ancient churches in Kerala stands on a hilltop on the eastern bank of the Muvattupuzha river at Piravom. Piravom has a river-front, verdant hills, and paddy fields. The town is situated on the banks of the Muvattupuzha river. The second spell of monsoon that has brought rain over Kerala affected city life on Wednesday. The day witnessed heavy downpour during the morning hours and it rained for nearly three hours unceasingly. The heavy rain slowed down the pace of city life as vehicles had to move cautiously through the roads. The rain figures from Kochi Airport indicated that the area received Piravom 7cm.
