The Madhu River is a beautiful wetland spread over 900 hectares in Sri Lanka. There are 64 islands in this river basin. There is a boat ride to get a closer look at this complex wetland ecosystem. It is a beautiful mangrove forest and a heritage site in Sri Lanka. The Buddhist Kotduwa Temple is located on an isolated island in the lake. There are 303 species of plants and 248 species of vertebrates in this ecological, biological and river basin. The unique biodiversity of the Madhu River and the surrounding islands is home to hundreds of birds, plants, fish and animals.
