The Teak Museum is located at a distance of 4 km from the city of Nilambur. Built in the year 1995 at the Kerala Forest Research Institute, this museum provides the visitor with everything he needs to know about the teak tree. The main attraction is the giant teak tree stump which is believed to be around 480 years old. The two-story museum is the world’s first teak museum. The world’s first teak plantation was planted by the British in Nilambur in the 1840s and is one of the most important teak plantations in the world. The museum is open from 10 am to 4.30 pm on all days except Monday.
