It is located 12 km from Thrissur in Kerala, India. Poomala Dam is located at a distance of 1 km. The dam is located at an elevation of 94.50 m above sea level. Adjacent to the dam is a small park and boat rides. There is also a large dam at Pathazhakund near this dam. Here you can see the sages who are said to have performed penance in the past. The dam, which was built for agricultural purposes, is now under the Department of Tourism.
