The Polonnaruwa is one of the most ancient countries in Sri Lanka. The kingdom was built by Vijayabahu, a Chola king. Galvihara is about two kilometers from the Palace complex of Janathamangalam. This is a Buddhist temple. There are three Buddha statues carved into the rock. The meditation statue is 15 feet in height. There is a Buddha statue in the cave 4 feet below the cave. This is a temple. Buddhists pray and offer flowers. After the temple, there is a Buddha statue with a calm face that shows the beauty of the sculpture. There is a 46 feet long carved Buddha statue with its head resting in one hand. These magnificent rock formations are amazing.
