This famous Marian pilgrim centre of central Kerala, located on the left bank of Chalakkudy River, is known as the church of Koratty Muthy. Korattymuthy’s Shrine is famous for its annual feast with Poovankula Muttilizhayal offerings. The market located in the premises of the church, was a trade centre of the olden times. The agriculture marketing fair held in connection with the Feast is very famous. Koratty Muthy is also known as the Mother of Seeds, a presiding deity who ensures perpetual productivity and prosperity. Koratty Muthy Marian Pilgrimage Centre Perunnal starts on the first Saturday from 10th of October. The main day of the perunnal is on the Sunday following that Saturday.The Perunnal continues for two more weeks till Pathinanchamidam. The Ettamidam and the Pathinanchamidam are celebrated on the succeeding Sundays respectively.
