There will be no one who never heard about Badami, Aihole, and Pattadakal in India. Everyone return after seeing all these. But the remains of the Chalukya dynasty are scattered all over the Bagalkot district. Mahakuteshwara temple is an ancient temple complex near Badami. You can reach Mahakuteshwara temple by taking the left road in front of Banashankari temple, when you come from Badami. Mahakuta temples are situated in Mahakuta village in Bagalkot district in Karnataka, India. There is a sculpture of Nandi made in a single stone in the temple courtyard. This temple, built in the Dravidian style, has a Shivalinga on top of a curved tower. It is believed to be built in the 6th or 7th century. The temple pond is situated near to Saraswathi River. It is known as Vishnu Pushkarni. There is a small Shivalinga near the pond, which has to be reached by sinking into the stone structure. About 4 people can stand around the Shivlinga in the deep water up to the neck. There are small shine around the main temple. The wall in the temples are beautifully decorated with carving different forms of Shiva. The Mallikarjuna temple is situated on the other side of the temple. The Chikka Mahakuteswara temple is a famous place of worship for Hindus and it is also a famous Shaiva monastery. Now, the Chikka Mahakuteswara temple is a main tourist destination.
