The Eravikulam National Park covers an area of 97sqkm in the famous Western Ghats. The Wildlife Department of Munnar and the Forest and Wildlife Department of Kerala is maintaining the Eravikulam National Park. It is the first National park in Kerala. It is famous for Nilgiri tahr and Neelakurinji. Eravikulam National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The highest peak in India, Anamudi, is in this park. The park is divided into three zones, core area, buffer area, and tourism area. The Rajamala is in the tourism area. Travelers are not allowed in the core and buffer areas. This park is a heritage site having meadows, forests, shoals, shrubs, streams, and waterfalls. It also has a vast diversity of fauna. Over 750 Nilgiri tahr, sambar deer, jungle cat, wild dog, leopard, tiger, golden jackal, Nilgiri langur, India porcupine, Nilgiri marten, ruddy mongoose, faint palm squirrel and in some season elephants also can be found in the park. The perfect time to visit is from September-November to April-June. The ticket costs 90rs for Indian citizens, 70rs for children, for foreign citizen 360rs per person, for still camera 40rs, and video cameras 300rs. The time is from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm.
