By Buddhist Golden Temple is situated in the Tibetan monastery in Kushalnagar in Mysore. The full name of this monastery is Thegchog Namdrol Shedrub Dargye Ling. This monastery is situated in the land which is donated to the Tibetans by the Indian government. Initially these were made of bamboos. Today it is the second-largest Tibetan settlement outside Tibet. There are 7,000 saints and students in the monastery. The main attraction is the 40ft tall golden statues of Buddha. The altar is decorated with flowers, candles, and incenses. Temple walls are decorated with colorful paintings of Buddhist mythological characters. Today, this is a major tourist destination that is visited by a lot of tourists from India and different parts of the world. The tranquil, beautiful, and clean surroundings of the temple gives us warmth. The monastery is entirely a different world. Footwears are prohibited and photos and videos are allowed in the temple premises. The festival in this temple is in February and March so it is better to visit this temple in these months. During the festival, you can see the Tibetan rituals and their dance in the main courtyard. Traditional Tibetan clothes, statues, jewels, carpets and, other items can be purchased from the nearby shops. The Bylakuppe Golden temple is open from 7 am to 8 pm. It is at a distance of 90km from Mysore and 250km from Bangalore. From Kushalnagar, cross the Kaveri River bridge on the Mysore-Madikeri road, you can see the monastery’s board after 200m.
