Chettattin kavu is at a distance of 1km from prehistoric Sita temple in Puthuppalli in Wayanad district in Kerala. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Sita. It is believed that this temple is built at the place where Goddess Sita goes inside the earth in Ramayan Mythology. Lord Ram holds her hair while she went down and leaves her hair in Ram’s hand. The place where the Goddess said to have fallen is still there. The trees in this place had hair like fiber hanging from them until a long time ago. Now they are not seen. Jadayatta kavu shorten as Chetattin Kavu. The temple tells about the amazing carpentry. A structure of banana flower and jackfruit swinging in the wind is engraved in wood, is amazing.
