Thanneermukkam is a village located in the Alappuzha district of Kerala, India. Thanneermukkom is an important destination in the backwater tourism map. A number of resorts dot the area. Thanneermukkom bund connecting to Kottayam and Alappuzha Dist. The starting point of BUND is in Thanneermukkom, its a very nice village situated near to Vembanadu kayal, and north west side of Kuttanadu. Its enriched with Temples, Churches, Schools, Hospitals, Petol pump, Stadium, Public Library & other art and sports cultural clubs etc.The Thanneermukkom Bund, considered the largest mud regulator in the country, was built as part of the Kuttanad Development Scheme. The huge construction is built across Lake Vembanad, the largest lake of the State, and divides the lake into two parts. It also connects the two districts of Kottayam and Alappuzha through the Thanneermukkam and Vechoor villages on either side of the bund.Known as the Venice of the East, Alappuzha has always basked a major place in the maritime history of Kerala. Tourists visit here to hangout and relax as it has tremendous and tempting natural beauty all around. This place has huge network of freshwater rivers, meandering lakes, and lagoons. One can try adventurous activities at the beach like boating, or enjoy at children’s park with toy bicycles or trains. Hallowed with natures green beauty and scenery, Alappuzha is a wonderland of Kerala state.
