The Kalpathy Chariot Festival in Palakkad district of Kerala is very famous. Kalpathy Rathodsavam is also the largest commercial festival in and around Palakkad. Agraharams are houses inhabited by Brahmins in Kalpathy. During the 700-year-old Kalpathy Chariot Festival, four chariots from four temples in Kalpathy converge on the streets. Lord Shiva rides in the main chariot and his sons in two small chariots. Chariots from other villages join the procession. The music festival is the main attraction here. Famous singers and musicians from all over the world come here to sing for free.
