By Bharananganam Church, where St. Alphonsus rests, is one of the oldest Christian centers in Kerala. The church was established in 1945 as the Cemetery Chapel of St. Mary’s Church. St. Alphonsa Church was renamed Alphonsa Church on October 12, 2008. Every year on July 28th, the anniversary of the death of St. Alphonsus is celebrated. Thousands of devotees attend this feast. Bharananganam is one of the important pilgrimage centers of Kerala. This fame will last forever through the tomb of Alphonsa, who was named a saint. Bharananganam is located at a distance of 8 km from the bridge.
