Ettumanoor Mahadeva temple is an ancient Shiva temple in Kottayam, Kerala, India. Temple tradition has it that the Pandavas and the sage Vyasa had worshipped at this temple. The present idol here is the almighty Siva. The main attraction of the temple is the Ezharaponnanan, i.e the seven large and one small elephants made of nearly 13 K grams of gold. The temple is opened to the devotees from 4 to 12.30 in the morning and 5 to 8 in the evening. The temple celebrates its annual Arattu festival on Thiruvathira in Kumbham February – March. This magnificent 10 day long festival draws thousands of pilgrims. The festival at Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple will conclude on Tuesday at Perur Poovathummoodu Kadavil. While Ettumanoorappan’s Nirattu is going on, Peringathur Mahadevan will also be doing Arattu on the other side. The villages of Ettumanoor and Thiruvanchoor will witness the Arat which will be held simultaneously across Meenachilar at 7 evening.
