Sundarapandiyapuram is home to three important temples. The Sri Meenakshi Sundareshwarar temple dates back to the early 19th century. However, the Rukmani Sathyabama Sameda Sri Rajagopala Swamy temple is the oldest place of worship in the town, purportedly around 4000 years old. Sundarapandipuram also has a Brahmin colony which was a popular setting for many Tamil and Malayalam films. The traditional agrahara with intricate sculptures, complex pillars, colorful kolams and the huge pond will give you a kooky feeling. Known for its scenic beauty, it is a popular setting for many Tamil films and regional sitcoms.
