Old Kolukkumala Tea Factory in the world’s tallest tea garden. At an altitude of about 8000 feet above sea level, tea is grown on 500 acres of land without any exposure to pesticides and fertilizers. That is why the tea in Kolukkumalai has more quality and taste. Kolukkumalai is home to the world’s tallest organic tea garden. The tea factory was established in 1935. Kolukkumala Tea Estate, established by the British, is still functioning today. Tea is still made here using the traditional method. There are no modern machines or computerized systems, and many of the older machines proudly display their English manufacturer’s labels and 1940s old stamps.
